2. Method statement

Sequence of work

1. Sign in, induction, brief this RAMS with the team.
2. Agree isolation with the building manager.
3. Set exclusion zone and warning signage on the ground-floor corridor.
4. Identify circuit, isolate, lock off and tag.
5. Prove the tester, prove dead, prove the tester again.
6. Replace consumer unit and extend ring final circuit.
7. Inspect, test and certificate to BS 7671.
8. Remove lock-off only when safe. Clear waste and sign out.

Plant & equipment: GS38 voltage indicator and proving unit, lock-off kit, insulated tools, podium.

PPE: Safety footwear, eye protection, gloves.

Competence: Qualified electrician, 18th Edition, ECS card. Supervisor on site. No lone isolation.

Emergency: Isolate if safe. First aider on site. Do not touch a casualty still in contact with live parts. Nearest A&E as site induction.

Welfare: Building welfare. No work while fatigued.

3. COSHH assessments

Isopropyl alcohol / electrical cleaning wipes

SDS: Manufacturer SDS dated 02/2026 (attach the sheet)
Hazards: Highly flammable. Vapour may cause drowsiness. Eye irritant.
Routes: Inhalation, skin, eyes
WEL: Check EH40 for IPA; ventilate the room

Controls: Small quantity only. No ignition sources. Cap the pack. Ventilate.

Emergency: Fresh air. Eyes rinse. Keep away from heat.

Health surveillance: Not required for this short use unless the SDS says otherwise.
